Publisher’s Blurb

After sitting through a 4-H demonstration on the evolution of the horse, Rosie and Carrie are determined to present the arguments for creation at the club’s next meeting. The demonstration proves harder to put together than they imagined as everyone offers the girls their opinions. The lessons Rosie learns about creation extend into her life in surprising ways as she faces her old adversary, Billy King, who cheated her out of her first trophy with her pony, Scamper.

Clothed With Thunder is the third book in the Sonrise Stable series – the heartwarming, continuing story of an extended homeschooling family as they live, learn, and love together. Mixing adventure, life lessons, and realistic horse experiences, the series is a must for readers who enjoy family values, Christian faith, and, of course, horses!

Content

🙏 Biblical: The girls created a presentation for how evolution is not correct and did extensive research on why it isn’t true; they prayed before eating; how the Second Law of Thermodynamics crushes the evolution theory; quoted Bible verses including Romans 1:20 and Luke 12:48; LOTS of mentions of God and biblical truths

📚 Educational: How photosynthesis (and what it is) effects the grass that horses eat; mention of how blood works when you get a cut; what irreducible complexity is; dozens of horse facts and information about them; how many chromosomes a horse, donkey, and mule have

🪄 Occult: The farrier talked about Mother Nature (but the Sonrise Stable crew was against it)

☠️ Violence/Death/Fear: Mention of blood and how neutrophils attack and eat bacteria

🤬 Profanity: Rosie has a big grudge against Billy and calls him names; mention of the words hate, stupid, dumb, and pathetic; they used some mildly harsh language when talking to each other

🚬 Drugs/Drinking/Smoking: N/A

💋 Romantic/Sexual: Mentioned how mules can’t reproduce because they have 63 chromosomes; one of Rosie’s cousins asked if Rosie was holding a letter from her boyfriend

Other Notes: Eye rolling; a mouse was in the house; a girl was disrespectful at the demonstration; the farrier took out a preserved horse leg and explained the anatomy (also talked about how the coffin bone can rotate downward, go through the bottom of the hoof, and the hoof can fall off, which could be gross to some kids); Rosie said boys are weird; Rosie lied (she felt bad after and apologized, however)

My Review

[I discerned this book a “Yes”.]

While Clothed With Thunder is a fictional novel, it has SO much information in it that it could go for being a non-fiction book! Such as why creation is true and evolution isn’t, horse facts, more about the Bible, etc. Rosie and Carrie brought together loads of facts and information that denied evolution, which definitely strengthened my belief that God is the true Creator of the universe and NOT evolution. I was surprised by how much I was learning while, at the same time, still enjoying the read!

I also loved the illustrations in this book! The horse on the cover is beautiful and the drawings throughout the story helped me visualize what was happening. Vicki has a real talent for drawing, that’s for sure!

The only notable complaint with this book is I think the characters should’ve been kinder to each other, had less attitude issues, and did less eye rolling. I noticed this problem with all the books in the Sonrise Stable series, but it isn’t enough for me to not recommend these books.

Clothed With Thunder is a wonderful book for anyone who is skeptical about creation, likes horses, and wants a discerned “yes” novel to add to their bookshelf!

  1. Sonrise Stables comes through again, yay! This book sounds like it was very educational and I loved hearing that it strengthened your faith in our Creator because of how well they exposed evolution for the lie that it is! I am pleased to add this one to my discerned Yes books list, thanks to your review. God bless!

    1. I’m glad that there is a fiction book out there that shares similar beliefs as me and is exposing evolution, too!
